About Naughty

Who she is and what kind of home she needs

Naughty was found on the streets of Houston, Texas - pregnant, alone, and completely on her own. Three days after being rescued, she had her puppies. Eight of them. She's been an incredible, patient, attentive mom to every single one. Now that her babies are finding their families, it's her turn.

She's right around 2 years old, 45 pounds, and a German Shepherd mix. She picks up on what you're asking fast, and she actually wants to do it - that's not something you can say about every dog. She's been living in a busy house with a young child and nothing rattles her. Sweet with people, calm around the noise of daily life.

She does have a sensitive stomach - more on that in the health section below. If you want a young dog who already has some manners and just needs someone to give her the life she never got to have, she's ready.

Everything you need to know going in

Sensitive Stomach - Important to Know

Naughty has a sensitive GI tract. She does best on a quality, easily digestible food and may need to stay on a GI-friendly diet long-term. No random treats, no table scraps, and transitions to new food should be slow. Her adopter needs to be okay with this.

April 8, 2026 - Wellness Exam (Most Recent)

Dr. Kallem at Zooburbia Animal Hospital in Sewickley, PA. Everything looked great. She weighed 20.6 kg (45.4 lbs) - up from 19.2 kg at the Nashville ER in February. That's solid weight gain considering she's been nursing 8 puppies the entire time. Mild discharge is still normal post-whelping and nothing to worry about.

February 16, 2026 - VEG Emergency Vet, Nashville, TN

While being transported north with her 5-day-old litter

Presented with bloody diarrhea. Diagnosed with colitis, anemia, and low calcium from nursing - all consistent with a dog who had been malnourished and homeless before being rescued. She was dehydrated and underweight at 19.2 kg. Treated with subcutaneous fluids, calcium supplements, Visbiome probiotics, and psyllium fiber. Cleared to continue the trip home.

She came through it. She's been gaining weight steadily ever since and her April checkup confirmed she's in good shape.

Current Food

Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy - Chicken & Rice. (Was on Royal Canin GI previously. Vet switched her.)

Parasite Prevention

Seresto collar (flea & tick). Seasonal Interceptor (milbemycin oxime) for heartworm - May through November.

Spay Before Adoption

Naughty is currently intact. She will be spayed once the puppies are fully weaned, before going to her new home.
